GL!NT is a mixed media art series by Wyatt Joseph Little Moose Barner. Sculptural forms are first constructed from concrete and hand carved to shape. After being sanded and sealed, the fish are drawn on top in pen & ink. The texture and grit of the canvas give a slightly fragmented appearance to the drawings, meant to emulate viewing the fish through shallow rippling water. 

The series explores the connection between the bodies of light that dance and gleam across darting shoals of fish & off seas of clashing swords alike. When I see light playing off of silver fish beneath my feet, I also see assemblies of swords gleaming in the desert. I’ve seen fish cut through the water like a million miniature scimitars. This collection is my observation of these things. 

The blades depicted are augmented with the intention to provide protection to your home & its inhabitants. 

The jewelry is a direct fusion of these two elements. Quality & weight worthy of a suit of armor, with the fleeting precision of a string of fish eggs atop a tide pool. I’ve chosen fish species native to my home of San Diego, as well as the fish my people have lived off of for generations. In this way I preserve their livelihood and continue their way of life !
